We are looking to offer a Group Accountant the opportunity to join our expanding Group External Reporting and Control team based in Stevenage.
About the team
This role reports into the Finance Business Partner as part of a wider team of 10 under the Head of Group Financial Control & Reporting. The team cover the central function of the Group whilst also business partnering with divisions on reporting and analysis. The team is highly motivated and high performing, evidenced by recent promotions in line with succession planning
This role offers hybrid working and you would be expected to be in the office two days per week.

As the Group Accountant, you’ll get the opportunity to:
- Month end reporting and analysis for the Head office, providing insightful analysis of month end performance, identifying key variances, underlying causes, risks and opportunities to key stakeholders
- Take full ownership of management accounts for holding companies, prepare and post journals,
- review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the shared service centre, assist and supply information to auditors for annual audit
- Support on the Strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting for the Group’s holding companies.
- Involvement in day to day communication with the subsidiaries, sending instructions, handling queries and raising enquiries on the financial submissions received
- Support in the preparation of periodical consolidated reports and commentary to financial information and assist in driving a continuous improvement in financial reporting processes
- Support with the Group monthly close by reviewing submissions of business units
- Support with the year end audit
What you’ll bring?
- Qualified Accountant with relevant post qualification experience
- Committed team player with a proven ability to hit deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
- Strong focus on controls, processes, and continuous improvement
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and to use these relationships to get results
- Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and operate with impact and influence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of using Oracle would be advantageous but not essential
