Principal Engineer – Design & Integration
Salary circa. £70,000, plus package

Z-Tech are recruiting a Principal Engineer to lead our Design & Integration function working collaboratively alongside our business unit managers across the utilities sectors and the mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and automation engineering disciplines (MEICA).
This is a high energy and rewarding role overseeing the operational delivery and strategic development of the Design & Integration function.

Water – Serving the UK Water companies with EC&I maintenance and project delivery services
Energy – Serving the UK Energy industry with EC&I maintenance and project delivery services
Rail & Adjacent Markets – Serving the transport and adjacent market sectors with EC&I maintenance and project delivery services
ATEX & Electrical Services – Providing ATEX and Electrical compliance services across our primary sectors (Water, Energy & Rail) and multiple adjacent industries across the UK.
Labour – Providing technical embedded labour services across our primary sectors (Water, Energy & Rail) and multiple adjacent industries across the UK.
What will you be doing?
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- To act as the Lead Technical Authority for Z-Tech
- Leading complex design of industrial mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation systems, using technical & engineering capability to provide Customers with functional compliant solutions
- Development and enhancement of the team members and team culture to ensure fulfilment of personal and organisational goals
- Improvement and enhancement of long-term relationships with both internal and external key stakeholders through contact, meetings and visits
- Strategic development of the Design & Integration function to meet the needs of the customer base and maximise opportunities within the scope of our business units
- Identifying strategic initiatives to enable your team to solve their day-to-day problems that come in all guises: technical, customer, people, and contracts, to name a few.
- Delivery of the company budget and overall company strategy.
- Ensuring the Design & Integration function complies with the company SHEQ standards and procedures.
Educational requirements:
- Essential – First Class Honours Undergraduate Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Electronic, Computer, Software Engineering) with the relevant experience as a Senior Engineer working within MEICA Engineering Sector.
- Essential – Membership and working towards Professional Registration at CEng with an Engineering Council recognised institution in the relevant field.
- Essential – Competent user of IT, specifically Microsoft suite of software, MS Project, MS Office and design software such as Trimble and AutoCAD.
- Essential – Advanced literacy & communication skills.
- Essential – Other Technical Management knowledge.
- Essential – Engineering experience in the Water and/or Energy sector
- Essential – Advanced Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation, control and systems engineering systems.
- Desirable – Good working knowledge of Process and Manufacturing Engineering systems.
- Desirable – Good working knowledge of NEC and/or IChemE family of contracts.
- Desirable – Formal health and safety & management qualifications.
