About The Role

Morrison Energy Services is recruiting for a Head of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality to work on our National Grid Framework contract. The role will support nationwide projects and will involve regular travel within the UK.

As the Head of SHEQ you will be part of our Electrical Transmission management team who are responsible for managing the Civil and M&E delivery teams of the National Grid Primary Equipment Framework throughout the UK. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the SHEQ strategy and objectives, whilst leading operational Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality performance of the business unit.

Morrison Energy Services is proud to be a key contractor to National Grid, delivering substation new builds, HV asset replacements, Bay refurbishment works, Protection upgrades/replacements across the UK. Our work includes Engineering design, project management, HV Procurement, HV cable installation, Overhead Line (OHL) works, civil construction, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition.

As a Head of SHESQ your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Effective and visible leadership of all aspects of SHEQ
  • Provide operational support for the delivery teams promoting operational ownership of Health & Safety
  • Work with the Senior Managers and the SHEQ Manager to further develop and embed health and safety improvements ensuring the alignment with the key pillars of the overarching SHEQ Strategy
  • Support, mentor and coach operational Senior Management to ensure the consistent delivery of the business Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality strategy
  • Champion the development and implementation of innovation to benefit SHEQ functions across the business unit
  • Determine and ensure compliance against company, client and legislative requirements
  • Monitor/review all aspects of quality standards
  • Seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships
  • Manage the implementation and delivery of MES Group training courses, initiatives and contract inductions

Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Extensive SHEQ experience, operating within a senior management level role
  • Experience within the Electricity Transmission sector is preferred
  • Knowledge of the utilities and/or construction sector
  • NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ level 4 in Health & Safety
  • Strong organisation and project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgement
  • An eye for detail and drive for continuous improvement
  • Commercial awareness
  • Confidence in engaging with clients and interacting with stakeholders of all levels
  • Effective communicator, delivers engaging, informative, well-organised presentations
  • Embraces innovation and new ways of working
  • Willingness to travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays
