About The Role

PMP Utilities is a member of the Water Division of M Group Services, the leading essential infrastructure services provider operating within water, energy, transport and telecommunication across the UK & Ireland and employing circa 3000 people across the UK.

PMP Utilities work on hydraulics, rotating equipment, Victorian and modern plant and machinery, large diameter valves and pipework fittings, treatment plants, raw, potable and waste and predominantly within the Water Industry. We need to fault find and provide, sometimes, bespoke solutions to solve problems.

The Operations Director will provide strategic leadership for a business that is about design, invention, and delivery of bespoke engineering solutions. The role is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and objectives for PMP in line with the overall MGroup Water Division vision and strategy. You will agree and be accountable for a business plan with financial and other targets. You'll be in charge of the PMP business ensuring policy, process and safe working practices are adopted throughout the company.

You will drive the development of the PMP strategy and business plan that includes specific revenue and profitability targets for each financial year by contract. You’ll will set and communicate the strategic direction of PMP and how it aligns to the broader Water Division.

Be accountable for the delivery of the PMP business plan and financial contribution. While you will take personal responsibility for advocating company values and for employee engagement, of both our direct and indirect personnel

You’ll assume the overall PMP responsibility for implementing procedures that take account of business risk, Safety, Health, Wellbeing, Environment & Quality. You will act as a safety and wellbeing champion and role model. Taking a direct approach in driving Health, Safety and Wellbeing performance within PMP and across the Water Division

You'll be a driven and committed member of the Morrison Water Services Board, you'll be contributing to the broader Water Division strategy. While being accountable for meeting and exceeding cash targets for the region. You will strive for the adoption of best practice, governance, and continuous improvement in all elements of your responsibilities

Do you have experience establishing teams? You'll design the PMP leadership team structure. You'll develop and adjust to suit growth of the business while managing, coaching and mentoring direct and indirect reports.

Are you forward thinking in recognising and capitalising on new opportunities and innovative approaches? You’ll stablish beneficial relationships with strategic partners to exploit current and future business opportunities (supply chain, joint ventures, licensing arrangements). You’ll be taking a lead role in forming senior client relationships with existing and potential customers. You'll understand the client’s strategy and business interests to anticipate future needs.

We value you for who you are, so appropriate formal training and development will be provided. It will be advantageous if you can demonstrate that you are;

  • Degree level or equivalent, preferably with post-graduate business qualification
  • Have demonstrable experience leading and supporting growth of an SME in a mechanical engineering environment

This is a key business role, so we will look for the following skills;

Do you have experience maintaining a consistent track record of managing business performance. Achieving performance and financial targets, through the management of large and complex contracts and/or businesses?

Do you have proven direct experience and success in senior leadership position?

Can you demonstrate excellent people leadership, coaching and mentoring skills?

Passionate about proving success in the leadership of teams, particularly through periods of change?

Are you a strategic thinker? 

Will you own the ability to develop and implement policy and procedure aligned to the wider MGroup Services governance requirements?

Can you offer excellent communication and personal skills? Can you influence others and sells ideas effectively at the most senior level?
